Hosting a Party

Parents: When Your Teen is Giving a Party
  • Plan in advance
  • Set a time limit and send out invitations
  • Set and agree to rules ahead of time
  • Know your responsibilities
  • Don’t allow guest to leave and return
  • Parents should only go away for a private weekend when their children are being looked after by another relative or a responsible adult with similar values
  • Remember, it is illegal to serve drugs or alcohol to minors
  • Invite another parent or couple over and stay visible and available

  • Know where your teen will be
  • Call the host parents
  • Talk with your teen
    • Set boundaries and expectations
    • Agree on curfew
    • Let them know where you can be reached
  • Check the party plans beforehand with your teenager
  • Insure your teenager has a safe and easy means of transportation from the party
