How to Keep from Going to Jail
Selling and serving alcohol in North Carolina is a serious responsibility. Failure to comply with state laws and regulations can result in criminal charges, resulting in heavy fines, community service, a criminal conviction and termination of employment.

What Can Law Enforcement Do and Who Can Do It
There are over 400 law enforcement agencies in North Carolina. Only certain law enforcement agencies have "inspection" authority at ABC licensed establishments.

ABC Violations - The Hearing Process
Most businesses operate within the laws and regulations, however you may be cited for a violation someday. Knowing what your rights are as a business owner can help you through the hearing process and assist you in determining a course of action.

Underage Minor Campaigns (Stings)
A tool used by many law enforcement agencies to determine if businesses are selling alcohol to underage persons is the "minor campaign" or "sting". There is often confusion as to the reason(s) this enforcement tool is used and what constitutes "entrapment".

Fake, Altered & Imposter ID's
There are many gagets on the market for detecting fake and altered ID's, and calculating birthdates, but no device is fool proof. The best defense against fake, altered and imposter ID's is training and common sense.
