Adult Awareness

A Parent's Guide to Adolescent Substance Abuse
Most parents aren't familiar with behaviors displayed by adolescents who are abusing alcohol or other drugs. A Common question is, "What should I look for?"

How much do you know about
NC alcohol laws?

Does a Family Member or a Friend Drink Too Much?
It is very difficult to admit that someone close to you may have an alcohol problem...it is even more difficult to attempt to seek help.

Adults Who Provide Alcohol to Young People
North Carolina law makes it a criminal offense to sell, give or allow underage persons to consume alcohol under the supervision of a person over 21. There are no exceptions to this law, even for parents or guardians.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)
The consumption of alcohol during pregnancy is one of the leading preventable causes of birth defects and childhood disabilities in the United States.

Alcohol Abuse And Older Adults
Alcohol abuse among older adults presents a growing problem in the United States. Most older drinkers are not alcoholics, but if alcohol interferes with daily life or relationships, it is time to seek help.
